All About The Riverside

Austin has beautiful weather about 8 months out of the year. But for 4 (sometimes 5) months, it can be hellishly hot. Soul-crushingly hot. Luckily, it also has plenty of places to cool off: lakes, rivers, swimming holes (for swimming), watering holes (for boozing), shady trails, and more.

The footwear of choice for the blistering months (and most other months) is the flip-flop. As all locals know, having the wind on your toes makes it feel 10 degrees cooler.     Better than Rainbow flops!

    I love Rainbow flip flops but I hate how my feet slide around on the soles. Alvies have a similar look but they are so much better. First, no slipping! Second, they are incredibly comfortable. I have bad plantar fasciitis and I have no problem wearing these all day to walk around. I am so excited to have found a cute pair of leather flip flops that are also comfortable. Finally “leather” and “comfortable” in describing sandals are no longer mutually exclusive!

    More feminine than I expected!

    I was worried these would just be a smaller version of the men's flops, but by some design magic, they look really cute and feminine on. Plus they're really comfortable.

    Buy them!

    LOVE THEM!!!!

    I always wear an 8.5. Ordered a 9. Got them and they were too tight and I was SO SAD because I wanted these to fit so badly!

    I went to their website to check reviews to see what others said and saw someone review with the same complaint but also saw Alvies respond saying “wear them to try and break them in and if they’re still too tight, return them for free”.

    How awesome is that?!

    So I did just that! I wore them around for a few days, and wouldn’t you know, they broke in and now I won’t take them off.

    They are so comfortable.

    Definitely waterproof.

    I have been telling everyone to buy them!

    100% recommend!!!

    Ok. Wish they were great

    Very well made. Shipping was fast but they are tight. I’m hoping since they are leather they will loosen up a bit. I wear a size 10.5 so I bought the 11, but not a true size 11, they are too small. I wish there was a size 12. I will keep them and hopefully I can wear them cause I really wanna love them .

    Thanks for taking the time to write a review! The flops should absolutely loosen up as you wear them a bit. The footbed will start to form to your foot and as your foot sinks in the strap will loosen just enough. If that doesn't happen, you can return them for free.

    Comfortable and Hold Up

    I bought these for my wife and she loves them. She is hard to shop for but after seeing these advertised, she mentioned wanting a pair so I ordered them as a surprise. She wears them with jeans, on our boat, and running errands. She loves the neutral color and low platform and they look new even though she's already worn them a lot. Great buy for her and brownie points for me! lol
